1st. Lt. Jacob Kratt, Jr’s REPUBLIC F-84E-25-RE THUNDERJET (#51-0493) engages a North Korean armored troop column attempting to ford a river below.  Lt. Kratt was assigned to the 523rd Fighter Escort Squadron and earned the reputation of being the best MiG killer flying the F-84 in combat.  While over Sinuiju at the Antung Airfield on 23 January 1951, Kratt would score a double kill over two Chinese-flown MiG-15’s in less than two minutes.  The 27th Fighter Escort Group would claim four MiGs destroyed, three probables, and four damaged against no losses during this action.  Lt. Kratt would also down a Yak-3 three days later, this would be his final air-to-air victory during the war.
